Tips to Prepare For Class

Arriving to Class: Arrive early before the class starts, typically 10-15 minutes early. New yoga students will not be admitted to class if they arrive less than 20 minutes before class starts, because there are essential instructions for new students prior to and at the start of the class. Once class begins, students will not be admitted to the studio.

What To Bring: Bring a yoga mat, large towel, and water to class. You are guaranteed to sweat, so if you plan to take a shower after class bring an extra towel. If you forget these items or don’t have them, you can rent a yoga mat or towel, and water is available for purchase.

DURING COVID19 SHOWERS AND MAT RENTALS MIGHT NOT BE AVAILABLE

Water: Drink plenty of water the day before class as well as the same day. Although you should come to class well hydrated, it’s important to have water with you as well. Good hydration supports the healthy function of all of your body’s systems, and it makes the heat feel comfortable rather than overwhelming. Please no colored drinks in the yoga room!

Eating: It is highly recommended to refrain from eating a meal three hours before class. If you are hungry prior to class, eat something that will be easily digested such as a piece of fruit, granola bar, etc.

Clothing: Wear clothes that will allow you to stretch and be comfortable while you are sweating (bike or running shorts, sports bras, tank tops, swim or hot yoga wear). Pants or long sleeve T-shirts are not recommended.

Injuries: Notify the teacher about any special injuries or pain that you have prior to class.

In Class: Take breaks as you need to. Listen to your body! You don’t need to do every posture or push too hard. The most important thing you have to do is listen and breath. Do your best to stay in the room for the entire 90 minutes. If you need to take a break, sit down on your mat until you are ready to start again. During the floor series, lie in savasana when you need to take a break or skip a posture. If you are thirsty, take a sip of water in between the postures. Notify the teacher if you feel you need to leave the room for any reason so that we can make sure you are OK.

We want this to be a beneficial experience for you. Practicing Bikram Yoga can be truly life-transforming, and we all have to start somewhere. Accept wherever you are today and go forward with a positive attitude about what you can do, and down the road you will find endless possibilities of where this practice may lead. “I started Bikram Yoga here at the SweatNGlow on June 23rd 2018. At the time I was on three different blood pressure medications, it’s only July 8, 2018 a couple of weeks since I started my practice and I’m off all three blood pressure medications. I’m just amazed how my body has change in the last couple of weeks. Thank you so much SweatNGlow Temecula! I appreciate you.”
